How to Contribute to XEvil
Why Contribute to XEvil?
-
Fun
-
Game programming is fun, that's why we started XEvil in the first place.
Making blood and death and gore is what it's all about. XEvil has
a flexible architecture designed around ease of adding new characters,
weapons, items, game scenarios, etc. You have some good ideas, bring
them to life (or death, as it may be).
-
Credit
-
XEvil has been around for years now, (see the XEvil
timeline), and has a user base in the tens of
thousands. Graphic and sound artists can show off their work.
You will be added to the credits for XEvil and you can say your work is
in a shipping product. Point perspective employers at www.xevil.com
and tell them what parts you did.
-
Experience
-
Creating something, merging it into the XEvil code base, and getting your
changes approved by Satan is not a
trivial task. There are a number of engineering and other issues
involved in the process of turning the idea in your head into part of a
shipping product. Satan demands a high degree of quality in XEvil.
You will gain marketable experience in game development as you go through
the iterative process of refining your work until it is ready to ship.
-
Fix Shit
-
Some bug in XEvil personally drives you nuts? Some feature that is
just begging to be implemented? "XEvil would be ten times better
if it could just do <blank>"? Well, you no longer have to wait
for the bug/feature to get to the top of Satan's
list of priorities. You can "fix it your damn self".
